Dragon Tattoo #1
a blog for geeks and nerds
This is the outside of my half sleeve. I love the use of the bees in the eyes of the sugar skull. The ribbon in its entirety reads “we are the everliving ghost of what once was”. Hayden Abernathy is responsible for this beautiful piece, she is an awesome artist and tattoos at Straight A Tattoo is Asheboro, NC.
My Frank N. Furter tattoo moments after being completed in January.
Sort of a spur of the moment tattoo idea, but I’ve loved Rocky Horror my whole life to the point where I practically eat sleep and breathe it. David Bowie will be gracing my other forearm.
The piece was done by Andy Ferrier at Utility in Halifax, NS, Canada. The idea was mine, he drew it up for me!
Inspired by Chuck and Meg, here’s a little timeline of some of my work. These are from 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. I was in college from 2003 - 2007, so the first three pieces were created when I was still a student, though only one of them was actually created for school (the naked people from 2007 was part of my senior project). The very first thing with the birds flying out of the guys mouth was just something I painted for fun in 2005. The second item was actually published, an illustration assignment I had while interning in the art department at the daily newspaper in my hometown (I won a local journalism award for it).
As you can see, it was in 2007 (my final year of college) when I first began to fall in love with watercolors.
I feel like 2009 was a year full of personal art breakthroughs. Something just clicked for me that year and that continued and spilled right into 2010. 2011 and 2012 have been great for me too but a huge amount of the stuff I’ve created last year and this year, the stuff I’m most proud of, is currently TOP SECRET.
